OUT OF AFRICA
with Tarisai Vushe
Tarisai Vushe has teamed up with Playscript and Geoffrey Sykes to present Out Of Africa, a celebration and meditation on one woman’s journey from the Savannah Plains and Zimbabwe, to Australia. In an exciting collage of traditional and Australian song, dance, storytelling, rap, legend, comedy and more, Tarisai’s story will entrance audiences as it invites them to consider her past and her experience of Australia.
Tarisai has had an outstanding career as singer since arriving in Australia 20 years ago, featuring in clubs, Australia’s Got Talent and other television shows and musicals, with tours around Australia and Asia. The latter include lead roles in the Lion King and Madiba (Mandela).
Tarisai is joined by Kenneth Tusubira (song), Jonathan Chagaresango (keyboard) and Suzan Mutesi (song and dance). The cast are all highly accomplished and outstanding performers.
Tarisai brings a lifelong love of song to this show. “I started at age three.” she says, “When I moved to Australia I really focused on music. By age eighteen Australian Idol invited me to audition. It was quite a journey to feature on that program, at that age.” Disney’s Lion King was unique.“It was a beautiful tour surrounded with fun crazy people.”
