One instrument. Two musicians. Endless possibilities.
Direct from Estonia, Duo Ruut create an astonishing live sound using just one traditional zither played by two performers at once. Standing on opposite sides of the instrument, Ann-Lisett Rebane and Katariina Kivi are inventing their own techniques in a mesmerising display that transforms a single instrument into something that feels far bigger.
The result is intimate, immersive and completely captivating. Their ethereal vocal harmonies drift between folk traditions and contemporary songwriting, while intricate rhythms and inventive musicianship create a performance that’s both hypnotic and unexpectedly powerful.
Fresh from acclaimed appearances at major international festivals and stages including Glastonbury, WOMAD, Celtic Connections and Elbphilharmonie, Duo Ruut have earned a reputation as one of the most distinctive acts on the global indie folk scene. Their award-winning album Ilmateade (The Weather Report) was named Folk Album of the Year at the Estonian Music Awards and praised by critics around the world including The Guardian.
Whether you’re a folk fan, a world music lover, or simply curious to discover something completely new, Duo Ruut offers a rare chance to experience music without boundaries.
