The Flickerfest 2021 Best Of Australian Shorts programme presents a selection of entertaining, inspiring and award-winning films hand-picked from the festival’s 2,700 entries, giving local Flickerfest audiences the first look at the hottest shorts in the world today.
Highlights from the programme include the fabulous Roborovski, which won the Yoram Gross Award For Best Australian Animation at Flickerfest 2021 by actors Tilda Cobham-Hervey and Dev Patel who step behind the camera to direct this animated short about an adorable miniature hamster seeking revenge, penned by Oscar nominated writer John Collee (Happy Feet); This Town Ain’t Big Enough For The Both Of Us by D.C Fairhurst who took home the award for Best Editing in an Australian Short Film at Flickerfest 2021.
Celebrating its 30th year in 2021 Flickerfest remains Australia’s leading Academy® Qualifying and BAFTA Recognised short film festivals.
“As an emerging filmmaker I was thrilled to see my films accepted into Flickerfest. When you get supported and when you see your films on the big screen – only short stories but I wrote them and directed them – it gives you a huge sense of achievement. It raises your self-esteem…. That’s what I love about the festival– it’s very selective in what it captures and it gives opportunity for Australian filmmakers to get their films seen and celebrated” – Wayne Blair, Writer/Director, The Sapphires, Redfern Now, Top End Wedding.
This screening contains a lockout period and latecomers will be admitted after the first short film has finished.
