SHARP SHORT DANCE

Sharp Short Dance returns to unearth the finest young dancers from Sydney and beyond.

This rare opportunity allows aspiring young choreographers and performers to showcase their talents in their preferred genre of dance and strive for artistic excellence, whilst performing in a professional theatre.

Over the season more than fifty dance works will be created and performed by young dancers and choreographers 21 years and under.

Entries can be up to 5 minutes in length by choreographers and dancers aged 21 years and under.

All entrants perform in a heat and a panel of industry professionals invite the best works to perform in the final where students compete for sponsored awards. Award categories include Most Innovative Choreography, Most Outstanding Male and Female Dancer and the Audience Choice Award. Finalists are also eligible for valuable industry secondment opportunities with leading dance companies.

Have you got what it takes? Email sharpshortdance@cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au for more information on how to register. YouTube and Vimeo submissions preferred.

Featuring striking aerial and acrobatic floor work, intimate storytelling, sketch comedy and dance, this show will capture your students’ imaginations and take you on a powerful journey from the Dreamtime to the modern day.
Matthew Warchus directs Andrew Scott (BBC’s Sherlock, Fleabag) in Noël Coward’s provocative comedy Present Laughter. A giddy and surprisingly modern reflection on fame, desire and loneliness.
