Sharp Short Theatre is Riverside Theatres’ popular youth short play competition.

Now entering its 9th year, and expanding to include its first regional heat, Sharp Short Theatre has grown into a much-loved annual highlight for both Riverside Theatres and for many schools and students.

Students 18 years and under must be the writers, directors, and performers of all the works which will be performed in a heat under the guidance of professional mentors and technicians. The best pieces, as selected by a panel of industry professionals, then go on to perform at the final where students are awarded prizes in categories including best script, best direction, best performance, and best overall production. Prizes are designed to hone the students’ talents and include masterclasses, theatre tickets, exclusive behind the scenes opportunities and more!

Plays must be 10 minutes or under and can come from any theatrical genre, giving the students a chance to play to their strengths, speak their minds, and let their imaginations run wild!

Come along and support our bright future stars as they shine live on the Riverside stage!
