Natyaswaravali: the coming together of Bharathanatyam and Carnatic music; two South Indian Classical art forms.

Natyaswaravali is a collaborative effort between two South Indian Classical art forms, Bharathanatyam and Carnatic music. The show brings together a traditional Carnatic repertoire brought to life with Bharatnatyam choreography and a live orchestra.

The show was conceptualised with the purpose of exploring the undeniable relationship between music and dance; playing with the flavours of raagam, thaalam (rhythm), movement and storytelling. Whilst retaining the integrity of the Carnatic compositions and structure, the dancer has conceptualised and choreographed each piece with Bharathanatyam grammar.

Natyaswaravali is not only the bringing together of two art forms, it is a collaborative effort between six Sydney local talents. Natyaswaravali hopes to represent, explore and highlight the interconnected nature of Carnatic music and Bharathanyatm whilst simultaneously breaking the boundaries of a traditional Bharathatyam repertoire.
