Keep Stepping is a coming-of-age story about love, obsession and transformative power of performance.
Competitive street dance is a multi-million-dollar global industry. Competitors dedicate their lives to winning, pushing themselves to the brink physically, mentally and in many cases financially.
Yet the sport exists in the urban fringes, largely discounted by the mainstream as a curiosity or misconceived as an Eighties hangover.
But those within the world of street dance understand that it is more than this. It’s a punishing mixture of athleticism and artistic expression, which promises empowerment and respect for those who rise to the top.
Keep Stepping follows the parallel stories of Gabi and Patricia, two remarkably different female street dancers, as they train for the biggest street dance competition in Australia: Destructive Steps.
This screening is part of FORM DANCE’s street dance festival, presenting a double bill featuring female-led Western Sydney street dance crews: Kinetic Illusions by Oh Sheila and INTERFLOW by Destructive Steps Dance Association.
