A new Australian dance duet competition as part of FORM Dance’s That’s Two, Thank You Festival.
The competition is to support artists planning to submit their work to FORM’s new partner, the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition.
The winning work will receive $2,000 AUD cash and a development residency in IDEA 2025, chosen by our industry panel of local and international choreographers in That’s Two, Thank You. The audience choice award winner will receive $1,000 AUD cash.

Key Dates
General
Open to All Dance Styles: Duels invites choreographers from any dance discipline to participate
Duet Performance: Submissions must feature a duet, with two performers on stage
Performance Duration: The performance should be between 5 and 10 minutes
Performance: Choreographers can perform in their own duet
Availability: All selected participants must be available for lighting rehearsals, dress run and the performance on Saturday 5 April 2025 (no exceptions). Participants will have 30 minutes for lighting and technical rehearsal, as well as a full dress rehearsal and must be available for the entire day.
Application
Deadline for Submissions: All applications must be submitted online by Friday 28 February 2025 at 11pm AEST.
Entrance Fee: No fee is required at the time of application. However, if selected to perform, a non-refundable $50 entrance fee must be paid by Friday 21 March 2025 at 5pm AEST to secure your place.
Selection Process: A pre-panel will review applications and select choreographers based on their decision. Admission is subject to panel approval.
Notification: Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 14 March 2025. They must confirm their participation within 5 working days and submit the entrance fee.
Late Confirmation: Failure to confirm and pay within the specified time will result in the loss of your invitation.
Technical Details
Venue: Lennox Theatre at Riverside Theatres, Parramatta. The stage features a white tarkett floor, grey backdrop, and black curtains. There will be no wings available during this performance season
- Stage Dimensions: 14.9m (width) x 7.2m (depth).
Props and Set Pieces: Participants are responsible for their own props and set pieces. We recommend minimizing the use of props and decor
Music Licensing: Participants are responsible for organizing music licensing for their performance
Music Submission: Music must be provided via email prior to Saturday 5 April
Lighting Plan: A lighting plan must be submitted to FORM Dance Projects before Saturday 5 April 2025. A template will be provided for your convenience
Awards and Recognition
Duels Winner: The panel will select one winner of Duels, who will receive $2,000 AUD in cash and a development residency for IDEA 2025
Audience Choice Award: The winner of the Audience Choice Award will receive $1,000 AUD cash and will be selected by audience members on the evening of the show
Additional Information
Promotional Use: By submitting your materials, you grant FORM Dance Projects the right to use any photos and videos for promotional purposes.
Video Documentation: All performances will be video documented, and participating choreographers will receive a copy of the final documentation of their work.
