In Un Plus Une, the prolific and revered director Claude Lelouch (A Man and a Woman) explores his perennial theme of searching for love in this transporting voyage into India. With stunning photography of the Indian landscape and charismatic performances from Jean Dujardin (Academy Award winner for Best Actor, The Artist) and Elsa Zylberstein (Cesar award winner for I’ve Loved You So Long, also in Gemma Bovery – Festival 2015), this is a film of incredible pedigree and captivating wonder.
Dujardin plays a cynical film composer Antoine who has been sent to Mumbai to score a high-profile Bollywood project. When he meets the Ambassador’s wife, Anna (Zylberstein), he is drawn into a new world of spirituality and living for the moment.
Antoine and Anna’s simmering mutual attraction is portrayed with intelligent subtlety and realism by the two stellar leads, with the legendary Christopher Lambert (Highlander) rounding out the web of amorous intrigue with typical panache. Featuring an encounter with the real-life ‘hugging saint’ Amma, this is an elegant romance that will satisfy both mind and heart.
