Directed by Bettina Perut and Ivan Osnovikoff

Chola and Football are two street dogs living in Santiago’s Los Reyes skatepark. The energetic Chola loves to play with the balls she finds lying around. She positions them at the edge of the bowls where the skaters show off their tricks and tries to catch them just before they fall down. The older dog, Football, looks on impatiently and barks at Chola until she finally drops the balls.

The teenagers around them come from very different, sometimes troubled backgrounds. They each have their own story, which they recount to us in voiceover . Directors Bettina Perut and Iván Osnovikoff spent two years with the Chola and football. Through their eyes, we get to know the flow of life in the park, and the teenagers who frequent it. The result is a film to melt the heart and pique the senses, one that focuses on its four-legged stars, while capturing a vivid impression of Los Reyes’ human life.

Proudly screening as part of the Antenna Documentary Film Festival

Spanish with English subtitles

“A charmingly roundabout documentary born of curiosity, patience, and no small amount of inventiveness on the part of its authors” – Variety

“Like an afternoon spent skating or sunbathing at the park, the film is an escape from outside stresses, a breath of freedom in a busy world.” – Variety

“The lives of two stray dogs are brimming with interest and unexpected emotion in Los Reyes. Bettina Perut and Iván Osnovikoff’s laid-back documentary is a slow burner but has a hypnotic charm that animal lovers in particular will find hard to resist.” – Screen International

“Pablo Valdés’s cinematography (…) captures the pair in all their canine beauty (wonderful close-ups of tongues hanging out).” – The Guardian

“Los Reyes is a bold and successful experiment. (…) The film deservedly won the special jury prize for feature-length documentary.” – The Guardian

“Los Reyes is an unorthodox observational documentary that requires the viewer to settle into its laid-back rhythm. It asks you to stay with the dogs, and when you agree to it, the snippets of human conversation that reach you have a much stronger impact and their dynamic becomes more intense than if you were just watching youngsters talk about their escapades.” – Cineuropa

“the dog picture of the decade” – Neil Young (THR)

“Santiago streetlife plays out poignantly through a pair of canny canine caretakers in this wry and filmic foray to the capital’s largest skatepark.” – Filmuforia
