LAILA
Laila – A tale of a claustrophobic mother daughter relationship – it centres around Mithu, an unmarried woman in her early 40s as she cares for her ailing mother Madhabi. The two share an unhealthy and turbulent relationship. Madhabi relentlessly taunts her daughter and Mithu blames her mother for her unhappiness. As they carp at each other it becomes hard to know who is the victim and who is the bully here. Who is most vulnerable and who is most scheming? Who is crazy? Is Anyone? It is a play where tragedy and comedy smash into one another, – savagely funny and desperately sad . This play will not release the audience from its grip until its end.
