World Premiere of a new work by Anne Boyd
Brahms, Martinu, Schönberg
Kammer burst onto London’s music scene as the Bennelong Ensemble and quickly established a reputation for excellence and innovation. They performed at London’s South Bank, broadcast for BBC Radio 3 and were critically acclaimed for appearances at the Aldeburgh, Cheltenham and Henley festivals and the Linari International Chamber Music Festival in Tuscany.
In a boldly romantic program, the early works of two giants Brahms and Schönberg are contrasted with the rhythms and colour of Martinu. Every chamber piece by Brahms is considered a masterpiece while Schönberg’s Kammer Symphony is passionate, yet melodic. His music is highly romantic while breaking free from the formal structures of 19th Century composition.
Kammer will also present the world premiere of a new work by Australian composer Anne Boyd commissioned for this concert.
