Indie Gems is a festival showcasing recent Australian and International films. The festival will run from the 26-29th July, 2012 at Riverside.
Indie Gems is returning for its 3rd consecutive year as a showcase celebrating independent work and creativity. It will present a weekend of diverse and exciting screenings, informative workshops and film networking events. Through the workshops Indie Gems seeks to highlight and showcase burgeoning filmmakers from Western Sydney.
Filmmakers attending Indie Gems will have the opportunity to receive one-on-one mentorship from leading industry professionals, who specialise in new methods of film distribution and marketing.
An Awards night will also be held over the weekend with a special award for ‘Mentor of the Year’ being given.
While there is low ratio of quality Australian films to foreign productions in our cinemas, the motivated and enthusiastic John L. Simpson is changing this. “We have amazing film talent in Australia and our stories are so diverse – emotionally, culturally and historically,” declares the successful producer/distributor/festival director. “Indie Gems is a testament to the talent and diversity and has something for everyone. We’re thrilled to be screening such a fantastic range of films at Riverside.”
