When the Tide Comes In tells the story of Sam, a young woman living in a 22nd Century Australia struggling under the impact of climate change, social division and restricted personal freedom.
After the death of her brilliant but reclusive father, Sam is left with his mess of illustrations documenting her family’s history. She sets out on an unusual and dangerous mission to discover the truth of her past.
In this audio-visual concert, the latest chapters in Sam’s mission are told through live music performed by Kurinji integrated with a ‘graphic novel’ backdrop of illustrations and animation.
When the Tide Comes In is part of the Colony grand narrative of connected stories set in Western Sydney’s pre-colonial past, present and future. It is created by CuriousWorks − an arts company committed to sharing the largely untold stories of the region’s multicultural communities.
The concert can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story, or catch up with the earlier chapters beforehand at colony.org.au
