FORM Dance Projects and Riverside Theatres present
Fling Physical Theatre
As part of Sharp Short Dance Festival 2022

2018 Australian Dance Awards winner for Outstanding Achievement in Youth Dance

Set within a unique transforming set installation, Body and Environment features the FLING company, made up of 11 young performers from the Bega Valley aged 14-18.

A suspended web of 64 interconnected shirts is manipulated by the performers to create a series of spaces; from architectural structures to natural environments, public and private spaces, to the subconscious internal landscapes of the mind. Following the cancelled 2020 touring of the work due to COVID, the work has been developed into a film version.

Please see our Schools Bookings & Resources tab for Learn the Repertoire, See the Film Workshop information.

From the Program Coordinator…

This will be unlike anything your students have ever seen before. These brilliant young performers use their bodies and a moveable sculpture made of old shirts to tell stories of the different worlds that surround us. Your students will be enthralled and entranced by this unique immersive experience. Great for visual literacy, exploring dramatic movement, Dance as an Artform, and the concept of 4D work in Visual Arts.

Learn the Repertoire, See the Film offers dance students an opportunity to learn from the film in a workshop led by the presenting artist(s). Alongside the workshop, students experience a matinee screening and post-show Q&A with the artistic team. The workshop offers a unique opportunity for students to play with ideas around dance, interactivity and design guided by artists dedicated to promote healthy attitudes to physical activity, body image and self-belief.

According to the exemption under the public health order (COVID 19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order (No 7) 2020 (NSW) under the Public Health Act 2010 (NSW), issued on February 1 2021, organised groups who enter a premises as part of a school, child care, aged care or disability group are not required to provide the premises with contact details of every person in their group. This is subject to the following conditions:

  • It is duty of the group organiser (teacher or carer) to keep an electronic record of the entire group and their contact details for 28 days after the event.
  • The group organiser must provide the premises (Riverside Theatres) with at least two contacts to make available to NSW Health.
