(Or, The Unexpected Virtue Of Ignorance)

Antonio Sanchez, Mexico

A true luminary in modern jazz, drummer and composer Antonio Sanchez performs his fervent score live alongside the Oscar-winning movie Birdman. The hot sauce in this already super-cool premise? Sanchez’s performance will be largely improvised, just as it was for the film.

Birdman follows the progress of a washed-up actor (Michael Keaton) trying to re-establish his career and his sanity. The solo drum soundtrack by the four-time Grammy Award-winning jazz musician is an essential part of its set-to-stun impact. This is a golden opportunity to see celebrated musician Sanchez in his element, and of course, it’s really the only way to capture the frenetic, buzzing energy of Birdman. As the drummer himself says: “If you come to one of these performances, you’re going to see a completely different thing every single time.”
