An exploration of Purusha & Prakriti through Bharatanatyam
Divided into 3 sections, this production opens with the "Kali Kauthuvam" seeking blessings of Shakti who gives life to the Universe when in Union with Shiva which flows into Adi-Shankaracharya's Shiva-Panchakshara Stotra wherein Shiva is seen to manifest Himself in each of the 5 elements of nature bringing together the essence of the phrase NaMa ShiVaYa - Earth (Na), Water (Ma), Fire (Shi), Wind (Va), Space (Ya). This very Shiva merely exits if he does not receive any life from Shakti - the Primordial source of Energy of the universe. It is only with the Union of Shiva and Shakti that the cycle of creation and life is born.
The 2nd section of this production shows Shakti as the 'Giver of Life' through a beautiful composition of the great scholar Muthuswamy Dikshithar (one of the Trinity of Carnatic Music) and explores the 9 emotions emulated from her eyes as imagined by Adi Shankaracharya.
The production ends with a crisp Thillana- a joyous dance consisting of intricate footwork and sculpturous poses in the 3rd section in celebration of this union and life.
