Fathers and sons, ambition, legacy, freedom and responsibility, a young man of privilege strains against the reins that tie him to the throne. His father desperate to secure his legacy and unite a divided country strains to pull him back into the role he was born to play. Like a cracked mirror this play refracts the many fragments of society illuminating the way society has changed and the ways in which people have not.

And causing mayhem through it all the titanic, comic figure of Falstaff – Shakespeare’s most vivid and human creation, embracing the full range of life’s passions.
