This is not a gig you watch — it’s a universe you enter.

After performing at Parramatta Lanes 2025, Elsewhere In India return with an immersive live music and video game experience set in a world suffering from cultural amnesia.

Led by Meenakshi, an out-of-work “cultural cyborg” built to preserve South Asian heritage, the story follows a motley crew racing to save lost artefacts of tradition before they disappear forever. Think drum and bass electronica, 3D video‑game visuals, AI‑driven filmmaking and electro‑classical dance, woven into an epic audiovisual performance.

Internationally touring and boldly genre‑defying, Elsewhere In India pioneers Indofuturism, blending heritage, science and society to raise questions about the future of society and culture. Their mission is to reimagine cultural narratives bridging India’s rich past with speculative futures.

Round up your motley crew and cultural cyborgs, and dive into a future world of sound, visuals and culture. Get your tickets today.

Elsewhere In India is part of Undercurrent, three nights of sonic takeover that amplifies the future facing sound of Western Sydney. This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government through the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner.

Using tools like game engines, motion capture, and AI, they craft vivid realms where cultural legacy meets futuristic scenarios.

Murthovic is an electronic music composer, DJ, and sound designer from Hyderabad with two decades of experience in the electronic music field.

Thiruda is a media artist, creative director, and curator known for creating immersive experiences for electronic music and shaping the Indian live visuals and electronica scene.

Pre-show Performer – Ravi

Ravi is a trailblazing sitarist fusing Guyanese, Indian, and Australian influences into a powerful, genre-defying sound. Based in Sydney, he’s reshaping the role of the sitar in contemporary music.

Ravi’s sitar playing reflects a mix of his Guyanese heritage, Indian roots, and Australian upbringing. Growing up around a blend of cultures, he developed an appreciation for the rhythms, sounds, and stories that shaped his family’s background. Ravi has been playing sitar since 2020, and he’s especially interested in using the instrument outside of traditional contexts, experimenting with contemporary genres and seeing how the sitar can complement other talented singers and musicians in Sydney and across the world. Ravi has played sitar at a number of high profile events, including being featured in Indian Council for Cultural Relations’ Republic Day video release in 2026, playing at Cowra’s Festival of International Understanding in 2025, playing at Kiamasala at Kiama Harbour in 2024 and playing at many other events throughout NSW.
