David McVicar’s acclaimed production of Mozart’s lively and gloriously fun comic opera about love, infidelity and forgiveness, sets the action in a French château in 1830 on the eve of revolution. Figaro (Erwin Schrott) and Susanna (Sophia Bevan) are looking forward to their wedding day – but Figaro’s master Count Almaviva (Stéphane Degout) has designs on Susanna. With the help of Almaviva’s wife the Countess (Ellie Dehn) and the page Cherubino (Kate Lindsay), Susanna and Figaro plot to outwit the Count…Leading British conductor Ivor Bolton conducts what is often considered the perfect opera.
