Riverside presents Playback Theatre Sydney
PLAYBACK THEATRE: PERFORMANCE AND WORKSHOP
An interactive improvising and devising experience your students will love.
Playback Theatre is renowned for honouring stories and creating improvised theatre that is moving and impactful. Using a fusion of drama, storytelling, movement and live music, the ensemble customise each performance by translating the audience’s life experiences into theatre on the spot and in the moment. The result is surprising, moving and humorous.
These workshops offer students the chance to use Playback Theatre’s unique style to inform their improvisations or devised works.
Improvisation – Suitable for Years 8 – 12, this workshop will enhance your students’ improvisational skills, essential for creating an innovative and inspiring performance. This workshop caters to students with basic to advanced improvisational skills.
Devising – Aimed at Years 10 – 12, this workshop is for students who are looking to create innovative and original devised group pieces for the HSC or school performances. Playback Theatre will show how connection to personal stories can lead performers to develop authentic and original performances that allow for creative choices that play to a performer’s inner strengths.
Together with the performance, both workshops will allow students to see the Playback Theatre method in practice and try it themselves.
Unable to participate in the workshop? There is no need to miss out altogether – come and see Playback Theatre perform live on stage. The performance will act as a valuable example of turning real stories into interactive theatrical experiences for your students.
Please note:
*1 teacher free per 20 students – show only. Workshop free for supervising teachers.
