Kriv Stenders: Kill Me Three Times

Venue Raffertys Theatre
Dates 16 September 2015

Featuring Live Q&A with Director Kriv Stenders

Simon Pegg, the UK’s current top comedy actor, plays Charlie Wolfe, an assassin-for-hire who discovers he isn’t the only person attempting to kill the siren of a sun drenched surfing town. Charlie quickly finds himself at the centre of three tales of murder, mayhem, blackmail and revenge. Also stars Bryan Brown and Luke Hemsworth.

This is a post-Tarantino, blood-drenched black comedy, unusual to say the least in the lexicon of Australian feature films. Kill Me Three Times has been sitting in the wings awaiting release but due to business forces at play, will have only three big screen outings before going to DVD, the screening at Riverside is one of them.

Australian Director Kriv Stenders will be attending on the night to answer your questions after the film. His most mainstream film to date is Red Dog and he has just finished filming Blue Dog

Kriv Stenders is one of Australia’s most renown and respected film directors with numerous critically acclaimed and award winning shorts, documentaries, music videos, television commercials and feature films to his credit.

His feature films include The Illustrated Family Doctor (Official Selection Tribeca Film Festival), Blacktown (Audience Award Winner Sydney Film Festival), Boxing Day (Adelaide Film Festival Premiere and Jury Special Mention/ Best Actor Award at the Busan and Montreal Nouveu Cinema International Film festivals).

In fact, Kriv began his directing career as solidly independent and very low budget. Blacktown and Boxing Day are perfect examples, the first shot in and around the western Sydney suburb it gives its name to, on an extremely low budget.

Kriv’s fourth feature, Lucky Country received two AFI nominations as well as being in Official Selection for the Adelaide, Cork, Montreal Palm Springs and St Tropez film festivals.

With Dark Frontier, which stars Aden Young (Black Robe, Rectify) and Hanna Mangen Lawrence (Acolytes, X) he began the journey to the mainstream that has brought him to Red Dog, the follow up Blue Dog ( which has just completed filming) and Kill Me Three Times.
