EVAN MANNELL AND NEAL SUTHERLAND: RHYME AND REASON

Give your students the unforgettable taste of an intimate jazz club environment and inspire them in their music studies and practice with these engaging and interactive concerts and workshops.

Uncover and identify some of the most common and useful rhythms found in modern genres including R&B, hip hop, jazz, rock and dance music as Evan Mannell (Finalist – National Jazz Awards 2016) and Neal Sutherland (ARIA Award Winner 2009) share their extensive knowledge and music industry experience.

In the workshop students will learn how to create new music using old sample tracks and participate in body percussion, vocalisation and transcription exercises. They will also get an opportunity to listen to recorded examples, programmed loops and live performance on drums, electric bass, MPC (sampler) and Logic/Mainstage (computer software).
