Riverside and Sport for Jove Theatre Company present
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM
By William Shakespeare
Sport For Jove’s Artistic Director, Damien Ryan brings the full force of his acclaimed theatricality and invention to a brand new vision of Shakespeare’s astonishing classic.
In the heat of the shortest night of the year, young lovers and work-a-day dreamers plunge into a world between sleep and waking, where “everything seems double”. A powerful vision of growing up live on stage, this production is a perfect introduction to theatre for young people and those who love Shakespeare.
Please note: This production contains haze and loud noises.

FROM THE PROGRAM COORDINATOR
As a director who produces dynamic, thoughtful, funny and visually stunning adaptations of Shakespeare’s work, Damien Ryan is the perfect choice to direct Shakespeare’s most magical play. The play itself was one of my favourites as a teenager and is a great introduction to Shakespeare for students new to the Bard’s work. English students will benefit from having Shakespeare’s play presented in a way that brings the text to life and heightens their understanding of the themes and the context. Plus, with the optional Production Elements Symposium, drama students will get an exclusive behind the scenes look into how Damien creates the magic.
