Theatre & Company’s A Launch of Voices will showcase some of Sydney’s most remarkable music theatre performers.
This elegant cabaret-style concert will feature songs from a multitude of well-known Broadway productions that include big show-stopping numbers, as well as a few songs that are still searching for their time in the spotlight.
The seasoned cast will captivate you with their impressive pipes as they perform some of the most moving, funny, touching and magnificent songs from theatre history. Musical Theatre is so diverse and Theatre & Company is excited to give audiences a glimpse into what kind of musicals they will be bringing to the Riverside stage in 2018.

Michaela is a graduate of the Royal College of Music, London. In the UK, Michaela performed the Gilbert and Sullivan roles Julia (The Grand Duke), Mabel (The Pirates of Penzance), Josephine (HMS Pinafore), and the title role in Patience. In Sydney, roles include Mary Poppins (Willoughby Theatre Company’s Mary Poppins), Maria (Chatswood Musical Society’s West Side Story) and Rebecca (Chatswood Musical Society’s It Shoulda Been You, Calisto (Pacific Opera’s Daphnis and Chloe), Lucille (Sydney Independent Opera’s The Silken Ladder), and Envy (Pleasure Opera) at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. She joined the 7 Sopranos in 2011, and features on their debut album on the ABC Classics label. Michaela has been broadcast live on both ABC Classic FM and Fine Music 2MBSFM, and is a member of close harmony jazz trio Midnight Avenue. Featured television appearances include Grange Hill (BBC) Home and Away (Seven Network), All Saints (Seven Network), Underbelly: The Golden Mile (Nine Network) and Rake (ABC Television).
Nikole’s first role in a musical was as a Koala in her Primary School Musical, Noah’s Ark. Since then she has appeared in over thirty musical productions and some of her credits include Cheshire Cat (Alice), Martha (Spring Awakening), Dominique du Monaco (Lucky Stiff), Mrs Mayor and a Bird Girl (Seussical the Musical), Madam De La Grande Bouche and a Silly Girl in (Beauty and the Beast), and Gladys Murphy (Copacabana). Nikole has also just recently performed in Willoughby Theatre Company’s production of Wicked in her dream role of Elphaba. Nikole has performed at numerous functions, eisteddfods and has traveled to Europe & New Zealand to compete in vocal competitions where she has achieved outstanding results. Nikole is so excited to be a part of the launch for Theatre and Company and wishes her friends all the success in the world for their debut into the Sydney Musical Theatre scene.
Karen has worked both locally including contracts with Sydney Showboats and internationally with Princess Cruise Lines. In 2012 she toured Australia as a back-up singer for American artist Taylor Dayne. Karen enjoys keeping on top of her craft through the community theatre scene in both Sydney and on the Gold Coast. She has performed roles including Mama Rose (Gypsy) Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady), Miss Andrew (Willoughby Theatre Company’s Mary Poppins), Irene Molloy (Hello Dolly), Bombaliurina (Cats), Baroness Elsa Schrader (Sound of Music), and Nikki (Curtains) just to name a few. Karen premiered her self-devised and produced one-woman cabaret Little Red Rising Wood on the Gold Coast in 2016, which takes a twisted and devious look at some of the nursery rhymes and fairy tales of her childhood.
Jacqui holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and is currently studying a Masters of Teaching (Primary). During her undergrad she was fortunate enough to spend 6 months on exchange studying Theatre in the USA, where she worked under the guidance of Robin Carr. She currently shares lead vocals for one of Sydney’s prominent cover bands; ‘The Smooth Jive Consultants’, along with playing regular gigs in her duo; ‘Jacqui and Loko’. Her most recent theatre credits include Lady of the Lake (Sydeny Youth Musical Theatre’s Spamalot), Mother – Understudy (Packemin Production’s Wicked), Sam (HMS’ Australian Premiere of Leap of Faith), Holly (Hills Musical Theatre Company’s The Wedding Singer), Packemin Production’s Hairspray and The Wizard of Oz, Riverside Lyric Ensemble’s Les Misérables and Blue Fairy (Sydney Youth Musical Theatre’s My Son Pinnochio). Jacqui is ridiculously excited to be part of A Launch of Voices and can’t wait to watch Theatre and Company thrive and grow.
Ashli was introduced to the theatre stage at the ripe age of 15, where she debuted as a young Broadway wannabe who tapped her way to stardom in Dames at Sea. This surely paved the way for dreams to come for Ashli, deciding to finally chase a career in music theatre at the age of 22, after being accepted into the Bachelor of Arts (Music Theatre) at Federation University, Sydney Institute. Ashli’s University credits include; Showtrain: An Australian Musical, Olga in Bells Are Ringing, The Hooker in Working The Musical, The Blonde in her self-devised cabaret 3 Blondes, 1 Cabaret, and Florinda in Into the Woods.
Ashli has also danced alongside cabaret performer Brendan Hay, in his Alice in Wonderland themed cabaret act, at the 2017 Aurora Ball. Ashli is a proud member of Equity.
Originally from Newcastle, Peter has been involved in theatre since the age of ten, and featured on Sydney stages for 12 years. Peter moved to Perth at the age of 18 to complete the Bachelor of Music Theatre at WAAAPA (graduating in 2004) having worked with Nick Enright, John Milson, Tony Sheldon, Ross Coleman and David King. Recently, you may have seen Peter as Franklin Shepherd (Merrily We Roll Along), Sam Bycke (Miranda Musical Society’s Assassins), Andrew Jackson (Squabbalogic’s Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Mickey (Chatswood Musical Society’s Blood Brothers), Carl Hanratty (Willoughby Theatre Company’s Catch Me If You Can), Judas (Willoughby Theatre Company’s Jesus Christ Superstar), Enjolras (Willoughby Theatre Company’s Les Misérables), and Hyde (Willoughby Theatre Company’s Jekyll and Hyde). Peter is super excited for this new company and is thrilled to be a part of its inception!
