MEDIA RELEASE 10 DECEMBER 2025
The Riverside Theatres redevelopment project has been given the green light to progress to the next phase with Council approving plans to enter a Pre‑Construction Services Agreement with the preferred contractor identified through the tender process.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor, Cr Martin Zaiter said the decision allows Council to work with the contractor to optimise the design prior to the construction stage to deliver the best theatre experience within the approved budget.
“We’re taking the necessary steps to bring our vision to life and deliver what our community wants – an iconic world-class theatre in the heart of our CBD,” Cr Zaiter said.
“Council has a strong track record of delivering major infrastructure projects and this responsible approach aligns with NSW infrastructure procurement guidance and best practice for complex, high-value projects.”
The design optimisation process will shift construction to later in 2026 which means the existing Riverside Theatres remains open for business and available to hirers in the meantime.
With the new Riverside Live at PHIVE offering also coming in January 2026, the magic of theatre will be alive in the heart of Parramatta.
