Riverside Theatres & Performing Arts Director

About the role

This is truly a rare, unique and exciting opportunity! The City of Parramatta is looking for the new Riverside Theatres Director.

We are seeking an outstanding leader to shape the future of Riverside Theatres as a major performing arts venue. The Director will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and delivering Parramatta’s performing arts aspirations. This is a permanent full time opportunity to become a leader at what is regarded to be an arts institution.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the Riverside leadership group and operations staff to deliver successful artistic and financial outcomes.
  • Develop organisational and operational guidelines for the efficient and effective delivery of Riverside services and programs.
  • Co-ordinate and manage integrated and holistic project planning to facilitate the provision of professional and community performances in Parramatta and elsewhere.
  • Overview the development and implementation of Riverside marketing, public relations and digital strategies.
  • Promote and support technical, operational and programming innovation.
  • Establish and maintain creative partnerships through co-production/co-presentation with arts organisations.
  • Engage with industry networks to gain knowledge and identify trends.
  • Provide strategic direction and overview of Riverside’s annual activity and programs including Presentations, National Theatre of Parramatta and Hires.

About you

The successful candidates should meet the following:

  • Extensive experience as a senior manager and leader in a performing arts organisation, cultural venue or a relevant discipline or industry.
  • Excellent networks within arts, performance and venue communities and government agencies.
  • Experience in developing and implementing innovative plans and strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing strategies, managing budgets and preparing business plans and reports.
  • Experience in building teams and processes to deliver compelling programs, best practice customer service and efficient operations.
  • Ideally have a degree in Marketing, Business, or Theatre Management or extensive relevant experience.

We are offering an attractive salary from $189,253.30. p.a. plus Superannuation. City of Parramatta also offer excellent employee benefits which can be accessed by the successful candidate.

CURRENT CASUAL/CONTRACT POSITIONS

Theatre Operator Intermediate – Audio Technician / Audio Operator 

Riverside Theatres is a premier performing arts venue in Western Sydney . The staff at Riverside Theatres are passionate about bringing the very best the performing arts can offer to audiences. The Technical Department prides itself on being a multi skilled workforce where team work is essential to meet the demands of our yearly calendar. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our positive and dedicated Technical Team in the role of Audio Technician / Audio Operator (Casual position).

About the role
The Audio technician / Audio operator will be working closely with the Technical Coordinators, Technical Team Leader and the Duty Technicians in the delivery of performances and events within the venue. The successful candidate will have proven experience operating in a theatre environment in the discipline of Audio.

The key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivery of high level customer service to hirers, production companies, artists, stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Reporting any equipment that is found to be faulty in accordance with the appropriate technical standards and/or other statutory requirements.
  • Adhering to the best practice WHS management and operating procedures.
  • Setup, patch and operate audio equipment from plans and specifications supplied by clients to fulfil design needs.
  • Work cohesively with the Duty Technician and other Technicians in all theatre disciplines to achieve the specifications required by the client.

About the person
To be considered for this role you must meet the following criteria:

  • Advanced level skill in the operation of the Soundcraft Vi and other digital audio consoles.
  • Advanced skill in the ability to read and interpret a sound plan.
  • Advanced skill in programming and operating Q-lab in a live theatre environment.
  • Advanced skill in the ability to setup, patch and tune audio equipment and act as a Head of Audio leading a team.
  • Advanced ability to work under pressure and problem solve.
  • Proven experience in venues, arts or creative industries in live audio.
  • Tertiary and/or other technical qualifications relevant to live theatre / events or experience in a multi-venue live theatre environment.
  • Physical fitness, agility and ability to work at heights.
  • High level communication skills and well-developed interpersonal skills.

To be considered for this role you will ideally possess:

  • Sound knowledge of Work, Health and Safety legislation.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • An attention to detail when working in a team environment.
  • A working knowledge of other theatre disciplines such as Mechanist, Lighting or Vision.
  • Test and tag licence.
  • Working at heights certification.
  • First aid certification.
  • Yellow card.

What’s on offer:
We are offering an attractive hourly rate from $27.63 per hour + 25% casual loading + penalties + 9.5% super.

THEATRE TECHNICIAN CASUAL

You will be working closely with the Technical Team Leader, Technical Coordinator and the rest of the Technical Team to technical services at Riverside Theatres. The role includes many areas in the back stage area including lighting, sound and mechanical.

Provide under some supervision general theatre services to promoters, business hirers, artists and the general community users and patrons of the venue: Open and/or close the venue including arming the security system, Act as Warden in case of emergency evacuation, Basic first aid.

FRONT OF HOUSE CASUAL
Riverside Theatres is seeking casual Front of House team members. Reporting to the Supervisor/Front of House Coordinator your main responsibilities will include:

  •  meet and greet patrons
  •  ticket check and usher patrons
  •  handle basic customer enquiries
  •  merchandise, bar and ticket selling
  •  set up and pack down of venue
  •  evacuation of patrons as required

You will have a solid understanding of customer service principles and ability to communicate to a wide array of patrons. A current Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate is required. Experience in venues, arts and creative industries would be beneficial.

Responding to Selection Criteria
