MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced person to join Riverside Theatre’s management team as the Marketing & Communications Manager. This role is responsible for marketing the Riverside Theatres for Hire, the Annual Performance Season and other activities including the education, music and comedy programs.

The successful applicant will be tertiary qualified and have a background in performance, cultural or entertainment marketing operating at a senior capacity for a minimum of 5 years. You will have expertise in strategic marketing, media advertising, digital marketing, database management, communications, promotions and public relations.

You will be responsible for the commercial performance of campaigns and initiatives in a multi-dimensional environment and will be required to maintain positive relationship with hirers, performing companies, promoters, artists, stakeholders and audiences.

This important role will contribute to maintaining and promoting Riverside Theatres as a centre of excellence in performing arts, events and exhibitions in the Western Sydney region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting Riverside Theatres brand, marketing and communication strategy
  • Lead the development of a new Riverside Theatre website
  • Lead data and insights gathering for Riverside Theatres key segments and use this to drive strategy development
  • Deliver a program of activities which position, promote and develop the ticketed attendance and visitation to Riverside Theatres
  • Lead a small, high performing team of arts marketers

About the person
The successful candidate should have previous experience:

  • Superior and extensive expertise and experience in the performing arts industry and/or arts and events environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills including the ability to maintain effective interpersonal and professional relationships with staff and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and leverage insights and trends to inform stakeholders and influence future planning.
  • Demonstrated examples of delivering a multi-dimensional and multi-channel promotional campaign
  • Successful examples of influence, engagement and collaboration with external partners, promoters, artists or hirers to drive and deliver outcomes that benefited both parties.
  • Evidence of team leadership in a multi-task environment requiring application of priorities, meeting of deadlines and working under pressure.

What’s on offer

We are offering an attractive salary from $132,793.37 p.a. plus Superannuation. City of Parramatta also offer excellent employee benefits which can be accessed by the successful candidate.

CURRENT CASUAL/Contract POSITIONS

Expressions of Interest

We are currently taking expressions of interest for casual positions. From time to time casual positions become available. We will use your expression of interest to assess if you may be suitable for a casual position. All casual roles full under the category of Theatre Operator.

THEATRE TECHNICIAN CASUAL

You will be working closely with the Technical Team Leader, Technical Coordinator and the rest of the Technical Team to technical services at Riverside Theatres. The role includes many areas in the back stage area including lighting, sound and mechanical.

Provide under some supervision general theatre services to promoters, business hirers, artists and the general community users and patrons of the venue: Open and/or close the venue including arming the security system, Act as Warden in case of emergency evacuation, Basic first aid.

FRONT OF HOUSE CASUAL
Riverside Theatres is seeking casual Front of House team members. Reporting to the Supervisor/Front of House Coordinator your main responsibilities will include:

  •  meet and greet patrons
  •  ticket check and usher patrons
  •  handle basic customer enquiries
  •  merchandise, bar and ticket selling
  •  set up and pack down of venue
  •  evacuation of patrons as required

You will have a solid understanding of customer service principles and ability to communicate to a wide array of patrons. A current Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate is required. Experience in venues, arts and creative industries would be beneficial.

Responding to Selection Criteria

Some positions require you to include responses to Selection Criteria with your application. Your responses should concisely and fully describe how you consider yourself suitable against each of the Selection Criteria and where possible provide examples. Your statement addressing the Selection Criteria should be no more than 3 pages in length.

The wording of the Selection Criteria indicates the required level of knowledge, skills and abilities needed for the position. Examples include:

  • Demonstrated or proven ability means that you should have successfully performed the activity or used the skill in the past/actual experience rather than just having potential;
  • General ability or general knowledge implies that you have the potential to acquire the skill or knowledge – if you have not had direct experience with the aspects of work required in the position you could demonstrate your ability by comparing it to similar or equivalent responsibilities, tasks, etc. or relevant studies undertaken; and
  • Thoroughsound or high level gives an indication that advanced skill or knowledge is required.
