Riverside Theatres is the heart and soul of arts & culture in Western Sydney and for more than 30 years has attracted some of the world’s best artists, nurtured local talent and showcased the diverse and vibrant stories of Sydney’s Central City.
Riverside Theatres, owned and operated by City of Parramatta Council, draws more than 180,000 patrons to up to 1,000 performances and events every year. It is home to the National Theatre of Parramatta, which cultivates Western Sydney’s next generation of artists, performers and creators and FORM Dance Projects, a presenter of independent contemporary dance. Riverside also offers an extensive educational program for young people and people with disability.
About the role
Customer Experience is pivotal to ensure that Riverside Theatres is maintained as a centre of excellence for performing arts, events and exhibitions in Parramatta and Western Sydney. This casual position is responsible for providing under moderate to direct supervision, a high level of customer service to Riverside Theatres’ stakeholders including patrons, customers, hirers and producers.
On any given shift you will be required to as a minimum:
- Roll out the red carpet of hospitality to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
- Communicate effectively with guests and colleagues to foster collaboration.
- Tackle challenges alongside patrons, turning dilemmas into success stories.
- Promote theatre programs, shows, and services with a deep understanding of offerings.
- Welcome patrons warmly, maintaining high levels of customer service.
- Fulfill bar service, usher, and box office duties as needed.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of Riverside Theatres’ venues and facilities.
- Execute accurate sales and cash handling procedures.
- Monitor cleanliness, safety, and lost property in assigned areas, reporting concerns.
- Follow emergency protocols and guide visitors to exits and muster points.
- Attend all required meetings and training events.
- Uphold a commitment to business KPIs and adhere to Riverside Theatres’ values and culture.
- Enforce venue policies, rules, and health and safety regulations.

About You
With an eye for detail and a commitment to achieving high standards of customer service and customer perception, the successful candidate MUST hold a valid Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate (RSA). Applicants cannot progress without one, so please ensure this is clear on your application.
You will be comfortable with a flexible rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, and public holidays. Availability for a 7-day shift work schedule will be prioritised.
You will also bring the following:
- Innovative approach to surpassing customer service expectations.
- Adept at collaborative teamwork and self-driven independence.
- Proven ability to multitask and excel under pressure.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, coupled with basic math and computer proficiency.
- Proficient in written and verbal communication.
- Valuable previous experience in Box office and Food and Beverage operations.
- Physical capability to sit, stand, walk, bend for extended periods, and safely lift 15kg.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with excellent task prioritisation.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, fostering mature professional relationships.
- Initiative-driven problem solver.
- Adaptable to the dynamic nature of the live entertainment environment.
It would be desirable but not essential for applicants to have:
- Qualification relating to ticketing
- Qualification relating to customer service
- First Aid and CPR certificates that are in date
- An understanding of safety and security issues relating to public buildings and public events
- Basic operation of a point-of-sales system
- Basic understanding of cash-handling procedures
- Experience in the hospitality and Food and beverage industry with basic safe food handling awareness
- The ability to take initiative coupled with a growth mindset

What’s on offer
We are offering an attractive hourly rate of $32.10 (inclusive of 25% casual loading) plus penalties and 11% superannuation.
