Riverside’s National Theatre of Parramatta engages the imagination of our audiences, taking them on inspirational journeys.
In September 2015 Riverside Theatres’ launched National Theatre of Parramatta, brought to fruition by the vision of Riverside Advisory Board, City of Parramatta, the NSW Government, Riverside Theatres and the Crown & Packer Family Foundations.
Operating from the geographic heart of Sydney, National Theatre of Parramatta (NTofP) is the creating, commissioning, producing, touring and capacity-building arm of Riverside Theatres. Known for producing bold, popular, contemporary works that draw their inspiration from the rich diversity of the region and beyond.
In their eight years of producing work, (2016-2023) NTofP has presented 48 shows, supported over 73 creative developments, numerous readings and workshops, and commissioned 24 new works.
Their program has had 32 world premieres, 32 Australian premieres and 7 international collaborations. Over 50 of these productions and developments have been new Australian works. Our work has been presented at Sydney Opera House, Arts Centre Melbourne, Belvoir, Queensland Theatre Company, Canberra Theatre, OzAsia and regional NSW.
Co-productions and collaborations with Black Swan State Theatre Company, HOTA, Rhum and Clay (UK), La Boite Company, Sydney Theatre Company, Griffin Theatre Company, Merrigong Theatre Company, Sydney Festival and The Javaad Alipoor Company (UK).
