Benjamin Kopp, Piano

Pianist Benjamin Kopp has performed as soloist with the Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Western Australian Symphony Orchestras, and Orchestra Victoria, and has collaborated with conductors Vladimir Verbitsky, Brett Kelly, Marco Zuccarini, John Harding Nicholas Braithwaite and James Judd. Benjamin completed his postgraduate studies with Pascal Devoyon at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Geneve.

During his time living in Switzerland, from 2007 – 2012, Benjamin performed as soloist with several orchestras, including Ensemble Contrechamps, l’Orchestre du HEM Geneve and Ensemble Namascae. In 2007, Benjamin was the winner of the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year in the keyboard category.

From 2004 – 2006 Benjamin was a full-scholarship holder at the Australian National Academy of Music, with teacher Rita Reichmann. Benjamin completed his Bachelor of Music at the Sydney Conservatorium, with teacher Daniel Herscovitch, and previously studied with Jennifer Hammond. Benjamin’s solo and chamber music performances are regularly broadcast on Radio Suisse Romande, ABC Classic FM, 2MBS FM and 3MBS FM.

Emma Jardine, Violin

“Eloquent, silver-toned violinist” (The Strad magazine), Emma Jardine has performed as recitalist and chamber musician across Europe, UK, Scandinavia, Asia and Australia. Born in Australia, Emma played for several years with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, and also as soloist with the Camerata Menuhin (Switzerland).

She has been engaged as Guest Principal and also Guest Associate Principal Second Violin of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and also performed with the Melbourne and West Australian Symphony Orchestras. Her solo performances have been broadcast on ABC FM, 3MBS and 2MBS FM radio stations, as well as on Australian television.

From 2004-2005, Emma was an Academy Musician at the Australian National Academy of Music and was selected as one of the “Best Concertos of 2004”.

Emma also holds a Bachelor of Music Performance from the Victorian College of the Arts. She completed her Masters degree in 2011 at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève, Switzerland, in the class of Mihaela Martin. Previous teachers include Pierre Amoyal, Gyulla Stuller, Nelli Scholnikova, Igor Osim, Miwako Abe and Alice Waten.

Emma has been winner of numerous competitions and scholarships, including awards from the Australia Council, Ian Potter Foundation, Victorian College of the Arts, IMS Prussia Cove, Siena Accademia Musicale Chigiana and Salzburg Mozarteum.

Meta Weiss, Cello

Meta Weiss (pronounced MAY-ta) made her international debut at the age of seven in Utrecht, Holland, and has established herself as one of the leading cellists of her generation. An acclaimed soloist, chamber musician, and artist, her performances have taken her to venues throughout the US and internationally, including Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Boston Symphony Hall, The Kimmel Center, Royal Albert Hall, and Teatro Britanico (Peru).

She has garnered top prizes in numerous competitions, including the Irving M. Klein International String Competition, Washington International Competition, Seattle Ladies Musical Club Award Tour Competition, Carmel Music Society Competition, National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artist Competition, Schadt Cello Competition, and the TexASTA Solo Competition. As a member of the cello-rock group Break of Reality, she was selected by the US Department of State as a “musical ambassador” for the American Music Abroad Program. With Break of Reality, she has toured across America, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Brazil. Weiss has also been featured on National Public Radio on many occasions, including as guest artist on the shows A Prairie Home Companion, Performance Today, Northwest Focus Live!, Radio Astana KZ, and From the Top. The debut album of duoW, her violin-cello duo with violinist Arianna Warsaw-Fan, entitledEntendre, was released in August 2013 on the Grammy award-winning label Sono Luminus. Entendre is the winner of the Violoncello Foundation 2nd Annual Listener’s Choice Award. A Dué Celli, her most recent release (December 2015), was recorded in San Francisco at Studio Trilogy with cellist David Requiro as the Weiss-Requiro Duo.

Meta began the cello at age four and has studied with Joel Krosnick, Darrett Adkins, Norman Fischer, Irene Sharp, Joan Jeanrenaud, and Michael Reynolds. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Rice University, where she graduated magna cum laude. Weiss completed her Master’s of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees at The Juilliard School as a C.V. Starr Doctoral Fellow and a SYLFF Fellow.

She was appointed as Senior Lecturer in Cello at the Queensland Conservatorium in 2015. Her previous faculty positions include Artist-in-Residence at the University of Puget Sound, Cello Fellow in the Juilliard Music Advancement Program, andVirtuosi Artist at the Bowdoin International Music Festival.
