QUEER SCREEN’S MARDI GRAS FILM FESTIVAL
ANCHOR & HOPE
Anchor & Hope follows Kat and Eva; two different, yet free-spirited women whose lives together become increasingly challenging in the face of the future.
When Eva (Oona Chaplin) and Kat (Natalia Tena) lose their beloved pet, Eva decides that she wants to become a mother – something Kat is skeptical of, knowing they will need to give up their current carefree lifestyle and move on from floating down the Thames on a houseboat.
When Kat’s friend Roger (David Verdaguer) comes to stay and agrees to be their sperm donor, he is drawn into their unorthodox and beautiful world. As impending motherhood grows closer crack start to appear in Kat and Eva’s perfect world as they grapple with what will ultimately make them happy, and what they are willing to sacrifice for the woman they love.
With excellent performances from all three leads, Anchor & Hope is an incredibly relatable film, full of heart, humour and authenticity.
