The Adorned exhibition premieres a new photographic series by artist Liam Benson.
The portraits feature women from across the culturally diverse communities of Parramatta and Western Sydney adorned with handmade headdresses and clothing reflecting personal stories of identity and culture.
Made by the women depicted during workshops with Benson, the wearable pieces – of feathers, embroidery and weaving – platform the diversity of makers in Western Sydney and celebrate cultural identity through the skill and beauty of handmade adornments.
Presented by Parramatta Artists Studios and WeAve Parramatta in partnership with the Community Migrant Resource Centre, supported by The Daily Telegraph’s Champions of the West initiative. Parramatta Artists Studios is an initiative of Parramatta City Council, supported by the NSW Government through Arts NSW.
