Sydney Sacred Music Festival
The Sydney Sacred Music Festival is now in its 5th year and continues to uncover the amazing talent hidden away in our suburbs and creating a new way forward for ‘new’ Australian sacred music!
The Festival opens at Riverside Theatres with a magnificent concert featuring five of Australia’s leading sacred music artists and travels around Sydney, from Sunrise chanting at Bankstown to the Baha’i choral concert in Mona Vale; from the high end jazz/Indian music Fusion of Sandy Evan’s ‘Rapture’ in the Blue Mountains to the dance fusion of Tango and Flamenco in Newtown.
In 2015, the Festival theme is ‘Defining the Sacred’. Festival Director, Richard Petkovic is interested in challenging what is sacred in our multicultural City, especially in this time of fear toward anything different. He wants to see how inclusive the Sacred can be!
Sydney Sacred Music Festival is creating new Australian compositions, celebrating our local musicians and showcasing ancient traditions and is built on its connection to community and its belief in the strength of diversity.
