Castaldi in Focus
Each screening features a Q&A and Special Guest
Rub shoulders, both real and virtual, and chat with some of the world’s biggest film glitteratzi at Riverside.
Film industry champion and veteran, Peter Castaldi, has carefully hand-picked a quality program of Australian and International films, both classic and contemporary, to be screened at Riverside in celebration of everything we adore about film.
Castaldi’s career has spanned 35 years and includes working as a broadcaster on ABC TV and radio as well as a film festival and cinema programmer.
Castaldi will lead a Q&A after each film and invite the audience, as well as special guests, to participate.
Film has embedded itself in the psyche of the modern world. We flock to the cinema in droves and, when we can, we love to re-visit our favourite films again and again. This one of a kind program represents everything people love about films.
Each of the films selected has, for whatever reason, resonated with Castaldi. Some are well known and equally recognised by the critical community and audiences alike, others are obscure or unknown, sometimes for all the wrong reasons. It is Castaldi’s aim to go on a free-wheeling jaunt to share what he considers to be both personal and cinematic moments worthy of celebration and review.
Recognising Western Sydney as an ever growing and artistically active region, Riverside’s Raffertys Theatre, named after local screen legend Chips Rafferty, houses the only permanent independent cinema screen between Glenbrook in the Blue Mountains and Leichhardt in Sydney’s inner west.
