Putting the Nation on Stage

Background

Riverside’s National Theatre of Parramatta (NTofP) is the production arm of Riverside Theatres extending the success of many years of producing plays and supporting creative developments. In 2015 Riverside Theatres founded Riverside’s National Theatre of Parramatta, a vision brought to fruition with the support of the Riverside Advisory Board, the City of Parramatta Council, and the contributing ideas of the founding Directorate.

NTofP commissions, creates, produces and presents performance which resonates with and reflects contemporary Australia. Operating from the geographic heart of Sydney, NTofP makes bold, popular, contemporary works that draw their inspiration from the rich diversity of the region and beyond.

Committed to building capacity and creating a springboard for theatre-makers to challenge and inspire audiences with innovative, quality work. NTofP is proud to be building on Riverside Theatre’s tradition of producing new dynamic theatrical performances. We nurture talent and provide opportunities for professional theatre practitioners to develop their craft and explore new prospects. NTofP is creating communities that support and build the capacity of live performance in their midst.

We engage the imagination of our audiences, taking them on inspirational journeys.

In our first four years we produced 19 shows, supported 24 creative developments, numerous readings and workshops, and commissioned 11 new works. Our program has had 11 world premieres, 16 Australian premieres and 1 international collaboration. 15 of these have been new Australian works.
