Background

We engage the imagination of our audiences, taking them on inspirational journeys.

In September 2015 Riverside Theatre’s launched National Theatre of Parramatta, brought to fruition by the vision of Riverside Advisory Board, City of Parramatta, the NSW Government, Riverside Theatres and the Crown and Packer Family Foundations.

Operating from the geographic heart of Sydney, National Theatre of Parramatta (NTofP) is the creating, commissioning, producing, touring and capacity building arm of Riverside Theatres. Known for producing bold, popular, contemporary works that draw their inspiration from the rich diversity of the region and beyond.

In our first five years of producing work, (2016-2020) NTofP has presented 22 shows, supported over 30 creative developments, numerous readings and workshops, and commissioned 13 new works.

Our program has had 12 world premieres, 17 Australian premieres and 3 international collaborations. 16 of these have been new Australian works. Our work has been presented at Sydney Opera House, Arts Centre Melbourne, Belvoir, Queensland Theatre Company, Canberra Theatre, regional NSW and co-productions with Sydney Theatre Company, Griffin and Sydney Festival.

Integral to us is our capacity building program where we offer mentorships, education programs and opportunities for playwrights, creatives and performers.
