Creative Futures Update : Amanda Sullo

February 12, 2019

We love catching up with our Creative Futures alumni – next up is Amanda Sullo (2017). Amanda joined director Neil Gooding, playwright Hilary Bell and composer Greta Gertler-Gold as they developed The Red Tree stage adaptation of Shaun Tan’s award-winning picture book.

Since completing the Creative Futures program, Amanda guest starred in an Australian television series and worked on a number of national TVCs.  She moved to Vancouver in September of this year, where she continues to study theatre and performance, and work as an actor.

What I loved most about the Creative Futures program was working with such wonderful artists. I got an insight into the workings of a beautiful musical and had the opportunity to learn new skills. As well as shadowing Neil Gooding in his directing process and working with Kirsty Walker as an assistant stage manager, I also had the opportunity to learn puppetry skills and perform in the production. I’m really grateful for the skills I learnt in the program and for getting to work with inspiring creatives.”

National Theatre of Parramatta is committed to capacity building in Western Sydney and has launched a Creative Futures Program for creatives, production and back stage opportunities. The scheme provides on the job learning and networking opportunities, enabling each participant to advance their careers within their nominated field.
