Announcement: Weekday Screen Matinee Series

Riverside is excited to announce a new Weekday Screen Matinee Series of screenings happening regularly each month.

The first of these Weekday Screen Matinee Series is Classic Movies and Musicals. See some of your old time favourite films back up on the big screen the way they are meant to be seen! These films will be screened on the second Thursday of each month beginning in September 2015. This new series will kick off with My Fair Lady with Oklahoma!, Jailhouse Rock and The Little Colonel in the following months. Sessions begin at 10am with complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits included in the ticket price. Screenings then begin at 10:30am.

The second of the Weekday Screen Matinee Series is Best of World Theatre with incredible theatre from around the world captured live on stage and then screened at Riverside. Plays come to Riverside from the National Theatre and The Globe Theatre in London plus more to be revealed soon. Not only are the plays world class, the actors are the crème-de-la-crème of the stage. These screenings will occur on the third Thursday of each month beginning in September 2015. This series begins with Globe On Screen: The Tempest and include screenings of National Theatre Live: The Beaux Stratagem, Globe On Screen: A Midsummer Night’s Dream and National Theatre Live: Hamlet starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Although there are other sessions of these plays scheduled, only the Weekday Matinee Series on Thursdays at 10am are the sessions which include the complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits. The screenings then begin at 10:30am.

The Friends Of Riverside will be your hosts to each session. The Friends are volunteers who support the theatre through fundraising, social activities and being advocates for the theatre. Everyone is welcome to attend these sessions and The Friends will be there to make you feel welcome. Come with friends or come on your own, it doesn’t matter – these sessions are not only about great theatre and terrific films, they are social events to plan and put in your diary for each month.
